Can you believe it’s October already? We lit the fire this morning for the first time this season, and while we know there are still a few warm days left in our autumn, it’s time to turn our minds to preparing the house for winter and putting the gardens to bed for a few months.

It’s also time to turn our minds toward the very full autumn of touring that has us in some of our favorite places. A jaunt out with Josephine County has us in North Carolina, Virginia, West Virginia, Maryland and right here in Maine. The Colleen Raney Band heads south to Virginia, Maryland, and my beloved New York City. Austin Celtic Festival is calling again so we’ll see you in Texas just before we head off to Japan for the month of November. If you’re in any of those places, you can click here for the full schedule.

Standing in Doorways is shipping worldwide these days and is receiving radio airplay all over the United States and further afield. Look for an article about it in Irish Music Magazine’s December issue, which publishes Nov 1.

Over the next couple of weeks I’ll be putting in about 800 bulbs and 300 corms for early spring flowers at our little flower farm. If you find yourself in Portland, let us know. We’ll put the kettle on.

with love,

Japan Tour 2018
I’ll join Hanz Araki and Genta Fukue again this year for travel and music in one of my favorite places in the world. Full schedule can be found here.

Hello again!
Now that the album is released and things are starting to return to normal around the little sea records headquarters, I thought I’d send out a more comprehensive email with September news and touring.  I am heading out this autumn on tour with Hanz Araki and a host of friends from west to east.  First up will be here in New England, then off to the Pacific Northwest. Dates and ticket information included below!

The garden is growing, the cats are healthy and hilarious, and we’re pretty lucky to live in this beautiful part of the world.  We miss you all though, and are excited to travel out a bit and see our musical friends and family these next few months.

Looking Ahead – October
Josephine County is getting excited to head south in October to see friends in North Carolina, Virginia, West Virginia, as well as some shows in beautiful Maine, a jaunt to the Lone Star State, and an album!  Head over to the band site for info!

Hello and welcome back to the news page here at Colleen Raney headquarters.  Yesterday’s news has been archived here and we’ll keep you posted on what’s coming up next or what’s going on right now on this page.  Which brings us to our first and only business of the day…. the cd launch concert for Standing in Doorways!

Please join us on Friday, August 24th at Frontier in Brunswick, Maine for a wonderful night of friends and music to celebrate the release of our 5th studio album in 10 years.  Pretty great for a kid who fell in love with Irish music because she mostly wanted to hang out with her brother more. Tickets here:

Joining us for the bulk of the show will be album guitarist Bethany Waickman and flute, whistle, shakuhachi player and singer Hanz Araki.  And just today we sorted out that Josephine County will be making a very special appearance at the show for some songs and tunes as well.  It’s going to be a great time and I do hope you’ll join us.

And now please enjoy a photo of a giant cabbage from my garden.  I’ll write again soon.
