February News – Colleen Raney Music

Hello friends,

I noticed yesterday, as I was making my way down Highway 101 on my way home from a few days on beautiful Whidbey Island, that it is staying lighter just a little longer and the bite is out of the wind… at least for a moment. If I remember right, we’ll start to see crocus buds very soon around my home. Every year it surprises me, the return of better weather and light. I wonder if I’ll ever remember that in the dark of the winter days.

In any case, January has been full of booking, planning, a few wonderful concerts, and some quiet to recover from the autumn and holiday tours. There are some great things on the horizon. At the end of February, I head off on a month-long tour with John Weed and Stuart Mason (of Molly’s Revenge and Little Black Train). We’ll be in Washington, Oregon, and California and we’re lucky to be joined by Johnny B. Connolly for our last week of shows in California during the St. Patrick’s Day celebrations. Our full spring tour schedule can be found at www.storyroadband.com and I hope you’ll join us for a song and a dance.

My own band – Casey Neill and Johnny B. Connolly – reconfigures in late March and has some great shows coming up for Marylhurst University and Seattle Folklore Society to name just two. We are also finalizing festival appearances for the summer and making real (and pretty exciting) progress on our album recording plans! The full schedule is here.
